Biography

Fredrick Simpler was born, Andalusia, Alabama, September 23, 1955. Graduated Andalusia High School, 1973. Married with five children ranging in age from 23 to 5. Member, St. Johns Episcopal Church; served on Vestry. Board of Directors, Salvation Army.

 

Cumberland School of Law

Fredrick Simpler graduated with J.D., 1982. Articles Editor, Cumberland Law Review; Associate Justice, Henry Upson Sims Moot Court Board; Captain, National Moot Court Team; Winner and Best Oral Advocate Award, Gordon T. Saad Moot Court Competition, finals judged by Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, sitting en banc for first time after it was formed, 1981; Deans List; National Dean’s List; Who’s Who Among American Law School Students; Cumberland Research Board and Instructor for research labs for first year law students, 1980 and 1981; Book Award, Contracts and Products Liability. Phi Delta Phi.

Fredrick Simpler earned a B.S. in Finance, 1976; two term Student Government Association Senator; Chairman,  SGA Parking and Traffic Committee; Member, University Standing Committee on Parking and Traffic; Pi Kappa Phi social fraternity; worked two jobs a day to finance college education.

 

Experience

Fredrick Simpler started solo practice in 1997 specializing in municipal finance, corporate and securities. Served as bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, company counsel and bank counsel on over 150 transactions totaling over $3,250,000,000 in principal amount. Tax-exempt issues included governmental, utilities, education, college and university, 501(c)(3), industrial, housing and solid waste.

 

Participated in securities fraud cases on both plaintiff and defendant side. Tax-exempt transactions also included qualified hedges and other derivatives.

Started Montgomery office for one of the largest firms in the State of Alabama, and served as Managing Partner. Served on management committee for six years. Practice included same areas. Montgomery office grew from one to nine attorneys.
